Dr. Barnard began working in the field of psychology in one of the first “polydrug and alcohol” rehabilitation centers in the State of Texas M.H.M.R. system. He has also worked as a high school teacher of biology, physics and statistical analysis, as well as an assistant football coach and head baseball coach of a San Antonio, Texas high school. After completion of his first Master’s degree, he furthered his study of psychology by obtaining a second Master’s degree, his Ph.D., advanced training for licensure as a clinical psychologist and post-doctoral training program in child and adolescent psychology with a Board Certification in Child Psychology. His independent practice has been in clinical, school, forensic and consulting psychology. He served as Chief Psychologist for 10 years at a private psychiatric hospital and has years of experience with both outpatient and inpatient populations.

Dr. Barnard appeared on the “Morning Magazine Show” on WOAI and 760 Talk Radio in the 1990’s discussing topics related to children, families and parenting. He also appeared weekly on a nationally broadcast Radio Show (The Power Parent Hour) with the Graham Williams Media Group in Washington D.C. Dr. Barnard has been married to Marialyn ( high school and college sweetheart) for almost five decades. Some of his personal interests are tennis, hiking, hunting, fishing, cooking, travel and flying airplanes. He and his children are pilots and enjoy flying together. His daughter is a Lt. Col. in the USAF Reserves and is a C-5 Galaxy instructor pilot and is also an American Airline pilot. His son is the Director of Financial Services  for NexGen Healthcare.
